‘Red Lights’ is a short directed by Doris Yeung, in which Robert plays a troubled young man who has an unexpectedly interesting encounter with a chinese prostitute in Amsterdam’s red light district. This film has won the audience award at the Dutch CinemAsia filmfestival! Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this beautiful short.
When people used to come up to me and ask: “So Robert, do you also carry some of your own songs on your iPod?” I usually blushed and admitted I did, ‘just in case I’d happen to meet people who were seriously interested in my music’. Usually the next step would be for them to ask about those songs, so I could give them a listen to some of them, after having repeatedly apologized for the bad sound quality of the recordings.
Today I am proudly adding ten new tracks of my own to my playlist, for which I do not feel the need to apologize, thanks to very crisp and clear recordings but above all because I had the privilege of working with some of the best musicians I know. Even if you don’t understand the language (it’s all sung in Dutch, for translations: click here!), you might still want to buy this cd for it’s esthetic value, on both the out- and inside. Welcome the true feel of the theatre in a live-orchestra-setting, in the comfort of your own home!
Since 2010 Robert has been violinist in theatre productions, from Dutch plays to musicals like Spring Awakening, as well as a member of Folk/Pop group Zorita. At the moment Robert is also playing chamber music with a nice group of very talented international musicians.
From next week on, he’ll be playing violin in the new Dutch modern musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello, ‘Otis’, at the M-Lab theatre in Amsterdam.
